English Language Institute - Come Learn With Us!
The English Language Institute at the University of Chicago is co-directed by the International House Office of Programs and External Relations and the Office of Graduate Affairs. The English Language Institute offers the opportunity to build English language skills and to increase understanding and enjoyment of life in the United States.
Academic Year Classes
Quarterly classes are offered at three levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced. Students can take the individual courses of their choice or design an intensive program by choosing multiple courses. Courses are open to University students, international students and their family members, and persons from the wider community. Click to view class details, view the class schedule, or register for classes. Graduate and professional students of the University of Chicago should click here to view our Scholarship Application.
Please note that these quarterly courses are not part of the accredited program of the University of Chicago; they will not qualify students for student status at the University of Chicago or a student visa.
