English Language Institute - Come Learn With Us!
English as a Second Language classes at International House at the University of Chicago offer the opportunity to build English language skills and to increase understanding and enjoyment of life in the United States. Take the individual courses of your choice or design an intensive program by choosing multiple courses at the level appropriate for you. All courses are open to University students, international students, their family members, as well as people from the wider community. There are no prior language or test score requirements, and you do not need a visa to attend. Note: These classes are not part of the accredited program of the University of Chicago; they will not qualify you for student status or a student visa.
Spring Quarter Classes
April 8th — May 30th
Registration and classes take place at International House. You are invited to attend the Information & Registration Fair on Tuesday, April 2nd and Thursday, April 4 from 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm to consult with a program specialist and decide which classes are suited for you.

Join us for Special Interest Classes and Workshops at the Gleacher Center
The University of Chicago offers many workshops of interest to non-native English speakers that are held downtown in the Gleacher Center. Special Interest Classes and Workshops are held during the Autumn and Spring Quarters. Topics for classes include intensive writing and communication skills for non-native English speakers.
