English as a Second Language classes at International House at the University of Chicago offer the opportunity to build English language skills and to increase understanding and enjoyment of life in the United States. Classes are offered at three levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced. Take the individual courses of your choice or design an intensive program by choosing multiple courses at the level appropriate for you. Courses are open to all University students, international and domestic, and their family members, as well as persons from the wider community. Note: These classes are not part of the accredited program of the University of Chicago; they will not qualify you for student status or a student visa.
