The 2007 International
Thanksgiving Homestay Program

Wednesday, November 21 – Sunday, November 25

In Cooperation with The International House of Chicago

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Thanksgiving is truly an American holiday with historical significance. It is America's oldest tradition and is a time when families gather together to celebrate. You are invited to become part of an American family for the four-day Thanksgiving holiday. You will be a guest with a host family in one of our six participating Illinois communities: Geneseo, Morrison, Paris, Prophetstown, Rockford, and Sterling-Rock Falls. This year the dates of the program are Wednesday, November 21, to Sunday, November 25, 2007.

This four-day Thanksgiving holiday trip is administered through International House at the University of Chicago. The buses leave from International House on Wednesday afternoon to take you to your host family, and return on Sunday at approximately 6:00 p.m. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from International House.

The International Thanksgiving Program was founded in 1956 by Trudy Trogdon of Paris, Illinois. Trudy was inspired to promote international understanding by organizing a program designed to bring international students to live with American families for the Thanksgiving holiday. Over the last 51 years the program has grown to include numerous communities throughout Illinois who now extend an invitation to international students to join their families in celebrating this holiday weekend.
