Join us at International House for an inspiring evening of music and history with the Golden Thread Ensemble, a pioneering chamber-klezmer group led by Craig Judelman and featuring The Klezmatics’ frontman Lorin Sklamberg, Latvian chanteuse Sasha Lurje, and a virtuosic string quintet of leading klezmer musicians. Blending klezmer, Yiddish theater, and classical traditions, the ensemble’s celebrated program highlights the enduring power of music to convey the human experience and its role in social movements over the past 150 years.
Sponsored by the International House Global Voices Program, Chicago YIVO Society, Department of Music, Department of Germanic Studies, Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, The Yiddish Fund at the University of Chicago, and the Joyce Z. and Jacob Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies, with funding from the Joseph S. Pinkert Memorial Fund and the Bonnie Kaplan Fund for Yiddish Language, Culture, and History.
