Join us for a captivating evening of music with acclaimed Japanese singer-songwriter Sachiko Kanenobu and her four-person Big Sky Band. Kanenobu’s debut album Misora (1972), produced by Haruomi Hosono, earned her comparisons to Joni Mitchell and became a cult classic following its 2019 reissue. Her music, featured in international media and on the soundtrack of Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days (2023), continues to inspire new audiences worldwide.
Having recently toured the U.S., UK, and Japan, Kanenobu now brings her distinctive sound to International House as part of the Global Voices Performing Arts Series. Co-sponsored by the Center for East Asian Studies.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required at: https://events.uchicago.edu/event/254347-sachiko-kanenobu-music-performance
