Annual Uchicago & Chicago Consular Corps Reception

was held on November 13, 2018 at the Neubauer Collegium hosted by Bala Srinivasan, Executive Vice President for Science, Innovation, and Strategy, Chief International Officer and Uchicago Global.  This year's focus was on Uchicago astrophysics: a global perspective.

Phumzile Mazibuko, Consul General of South Africa in Chicago

was the keynote speaker for the Black History Month event "Celebrating Global Diversity in the African Diaspora". Co-sponsored with the Global Stategists Association.

 


Harriet Berg, Norwegian Consul General of New York

visited campus to engage with students and faculty and toured International House.  Consul General Berg was accompanied by Paul Anderson, Honorary Consul General of Norway in Chicago

spoke on The Trans-Atlantic Alliance: Opportunities and Challenges. Co-sponsored with the American Council on Germany.

His Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana

discussed his fifty years of oublic service, his vision for the future of Ghana, and the relationship between Ghana and the United States at an event co-sponsored with the Institute of Politics.  President Afuko-Addo was introduced by the International House graduate fellow Kevin Irakoze who is a PhD student from Burundi.

The Honorable Jian Zhao, Consul General of People's Republic of China in Chicago

was a special guest speaker at the Graduate China Forum 2019.

Founded in 2015, the University of Chicago Graduate China Forum is one of the most important student-run forums in the Midwestern United States. It aims to promote intellectual exchange and bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and China by creating a platform for presenting diverse perspectives on contemporary U.S.-China issues.
