A pioneer and innovator, Dr. Deborah Prothrow-Stith is among the nation’s preeminent leaders in defining, researching, and treating violence. As a physician working in inner-city Boston, she broke new ground with her efforts to have youth violence defined as a public health crisis rather than as a criminal justice issue. Her talk is entitled "Preventing Youth Violence: A Public Health Mandate."

Immediately following the Social Justice Address, SSA alumni who graduated prior to 2004 will receive their convocation hoods (the class of 2004 participated in the first SSA Hooding Ceremony).
