Autumn Quarter 2020
International Cooking Club
The Graduate Commons Program is pleased to announce our new virtual International Cooking Club! Each individual session will see a demonstration for a vegetarian recipe led by one of our Graduate Fellows. International House will cover the cost of ingredients for those who register in advance, however, students will need to be able to collect their groceries from a local Hyde Park store. Participants may choose to cook along or simply enjoy the demonstration and recreate the meal in their own time. Additional unregistered participants may also join the meeting using the Zoom details below.
Next Program: Sunday, November 15, 5-7PM.
We'll be hosting a special International Cooking Club to celebrate Diwali - the five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Registration to receive the free groceries is sold out, however, we welcome additional unregistered participants who wish to join the celebration! We'll be making both a savory (Egg Curry) and a sweet (Kheer) dish this evening - ingredients are listed to the right >>>

Show Me Chicago Trips
International House GRAD Global Impact Interns organize regular trips to must-see places around Hyde Park and the rest of the city of Chicago. Past trips have included White Sox baseball game; Chicago Fire soccer game; Robie House tours; various museums; rooftop brunches; holiday attractions, such as Lincoln Park zoo lights and Chriskindlmarket; as well the many wonderfully diverse Chicago neighborhoods such as Chinatown, Greektown, and Pilsen. These are a great way to explore the many exciting activities that this city has to offer in a group. Until the day that we can return to exploring the many exciting activities that this beautiful city has to offer together in groups, we would like to continue to provide a platform to share the best must-see locations and hidden gems. Do you have a favorite spot that you have discovered, either in Hyde Park, or somewhere further across Chicago? Submit your chosen place here (pictures and videos are a bonus!) and if we feature it on our social media, then we'll guarantee to arrange a trip for you and a group of other graduate students once it is safe to do so.
International House often hosts watch parties for various sporting and music events. Annual events include the Superbowl, Oscars, Eurovision Song Contest, and FIFA Champions League matches.
All events are exclusively for graduate students.
