Talat and Isabelle Othman Lecture with Mohammed El-Kurd: “Perfect Victims and the Politics of Appeal”

Wednesday, October 29
6:00PM–7:30PM
Assembly Hall

Join us for the annual Talat and Isabelle Othman Lecture at International House, presented in collaboration with the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. This year’s lecture features Mohammed El-Kurd, a writer, poet, journalist, and organizer from Jerusalem, occupied Palestine. El-Kurd serves as The Nation’s first-ever Palestine Correspondent and editor-at-large at Mondoweiss, and is the award-winning author of Perfect Victims and the poetry collection Rifqa, both translated into several languages. In “Perfect Victims and the Politics of Appeal,” he explores how narratives of victimhood and resistance shape global perceptions of justice and representation.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required at: https://events.uchicago.edu/event/254346-talat-and-isabelle-othman-lecture-with-mohammed
