The Home Room
Located on the second floor, the Home Room offers views of the Midway Plaisance and the University of Chicago campus. The Home Room is connected to a residence suite for distinguished guests. Each of the original International Houses funded by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. features a Home Room. Originally, the second floor also had a string of National Rooms, equipped with kitchenettes, used for smaller national or cultural celebrations.
The Home Room is a bright and elegant lounge graced with cathedral ceilings, chandeliers, and a grand piano. Located on the second floor, this room offers striking views of the University of Chicago campus. This intimate room is ideal for recitals, banquets, lectures, symposiums, and multimedia presentations. The Home Room can accommodate up to seventy-two people for banquets and as many as eighty-five for receptions and recitals.
