International House Fellow Lina Gonzalez, MPP’25 is studying at the Harris School of Public Policy. She used her grant for the project Breaking Violent Areas with EmpowerEd Students to help prevent underprivileged high school students from becoming involved in violence and instead nurturing a bilingual youth workforce. This project was completed in Cali, Colombia where Lina was raised and attended college.
Pedro Huet, Jane Kim, and Joseph Olalusi
International House Fellows Pedro Huet, MPP’24 and Jane Kim, MPP’24, along with Joseph Olalusi, MPP’24 all studied at the Harris School of Public Policy. They used their grant for the project 59th Street Garden: A Community Approach for Solving Neighborhood Crime to establish a community garden in the Englewood neighborhood, a southside Chicago community that has been burdened by violence and a lack of public and private investment for decades.
International House Fellow Burak Tan, PhD’26 is studying in the Department of Political Science in the Social Sciences Division. He used his grant for the project Community Networks Against Gender Discrimination in Southeast Turkey to address the situation of the LGBTQ+ community in southeastern Turkey which has been impacted by the Kurdish ethnic conflict. This project was completed in Diyarbakir, Turkey.
These projects are among the twenty projects from members of the International Houses Worldwide community funded at $10,000 each for implementation during the summer of 2024.
