The Islamic narrative of the Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) life features heavily the theme of community building through sincere service that follows from taking ownership of one’s surroundings. Eid Al-Adha is one of the great Islamic holidays, and celebrates Prophet Ibrahim’s dedication to this service. The University of Chicago Muslim Student Association Eid Al-Adha Banquet annually brings the campus community together to reflect on these themes while enjoying a hearty meal and listening to inspiring speakers and performers. This year’s banquet will feature talks by Amir Sulaiman, poet, activist, recording artist, and two-time HBO Def Poet, and Rami Nashashibi, Sociologist and Executive Director of the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN).
