The 3rd International Kathak Indian Dance Festival will provide a forum for the convocation of Kathak scholars, musicians, choreographers, and critics where both experts and the public alike can come together to appreciate, debate, and learn about Kathak dance performance from September 12 through September 14.

The event will feature plenary sessions in the mornings by experts such as the University of Chicago’s Dr. Kaley Mason. Dance workshops, lecture demonstrations, and performances by renowned performers, including the legendary guru Pandit Birju Maharaj will be held in the afternoon. The evenings will feature more choreographed performances by famed performers.

Plenary sessions by: Dr. Kaley Mason (University of Chicago), Dr. Purnima Shah (Duke University), Dr. Mekhla Natwar (Princeton University), Dr. Pallabi Chakravorty (Swarthmore College), Dr. Sunil Kothari (India).

Workshops, lecture demonstrations and performances by: Legendary guru Pandit Birju Maharaj, Padmabhushan Smt. Kumudini Lakhi, Pratap Pawar, Saswati Sen, Krishan Mohan Mishra, Vaswati Mishra, Ipshita Mishra, Kiran Chouhan, Vishal Krishna, Sanjukta Sinha, Anuj Mishra, a dance troop from ICCR India and others.

Choreography: Pandit Birju Maharaj, Smt. Vaswati Mishra, Anila Sinha Foundation–IL, Katha Dance Theatre–Minneapolis, Tarangini School of kathak Dance–CA, Dipti Gupta and group, Usha Kala Niketan–Edmonton Canada, The Kathak Ensemble & Friends–NY and others.
