Do you wish to help shape rapidly evolving fields in sustainability and environmentalism? Are you interested in a green career but not sure which path is right for you? Join the Phoenix Sustainability Initiative to discover and build upon your green career pathway at the 4th annual UChicago Green Careers Panel.
Four environmental professionals will offer insight into a diverse range of related fields in environmentalism and sustainability. Panelists will discuss their current job experiences, speak about their work and career trajectories, discuss the skills they find most valuable, and analyze challenges they have faced in their work. The panelists will also help students majoring in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, as well as anyone with an interest in a “green” career, to gain a better understanding of the opportunities present in the evolving world of environmental careers. Through sharing their insight, panelists will aid attendees in finding their own potential career path.
Panelists include Tyler Barron, Policy Fellow at the Environmental Law and Policy Center; Christina Seybolt, Senior Research Manager at UChicago Urban Labs; José Acosta-Córdova, Environmental Planning and Research Organizer at the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization; and Ruth Kerzee, Executive Director of the Midwest Pesticide Action Center.
This event will be held in the Coulter Lounge at International House. Doors will open at 7:00PM, and the panel will start at 7:30PM. Food and refreshments will be served.
This event is free and open to the public and is made possible by the International House Global Voices Lecture Series and the University of Chicago Public Interest Program.
