The LAM Policy Forum provides an opportunity for renowned practitioners and world-class policy leaders to discuss Latin American policy issues with Harris School students and leading academic researchers in the Chicago area. In past years, the event has hosted relevant policymakers and leaders, such as former Latin American Presidents, current and former ministers, Latin American ambassadors to the US, and policy experts.

This year,  the Forum will cover three main topics:

Macroeconomic Stability: Key to Development:
Andrés Neumeyer (Argentina), former chief economist of the central bank of Argentina
Eduardo Cavallo (Argentina), Principal Economist at the Research Department of the Inter-American Development Bank
Mauricio Cárdenas (Colombia), former Minister of Finance for Colombia and current Visiting Professor of International and Public Affairs at the School of International and Public Affairs from Columbia University
Moderator: Fernando Álvarez (Argentina), The Saieh Family Professor in Economics and the University of Chicago College .

Public-Private Partnerships: Economy, Politics, and Social Development:
Gaston Asteciano (Argentina), PPPs director in IDB/ MPA – Columbia
Glaucia Calp (Colombia), Fitch Ratings- Latin America Group Head – Global Infrastructure and Project Finance
Santiago Peña (Paraguay), Bank Manager/Former Minister of Finance/Former presidential candidate – SIPA Columbia
Moderator: Alicia Menendez (Argentina), Research Associate (Associate Professor) at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and the Department of Economics
