This mysterious murder took place before the death of Henry VII in 1509. It involved government corruption, national security actions, illegal searches, and spying on citizens (sound familiar?). The murder will be solved with your help! Mark R. Horowitz, PhD’08, a fellow of the Royal Historical Society, will also illustrate intriguing parallels between Tudor society and 21st-century America.

Elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, Dr. Horowitz was most recently a Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and taught an upper-level history course entitled ‘The Tudor Kings’. His scholarly publications relate to early-Tudor administration, finance, governance and law. He has presented academic papers throughout the U.S., England, Portugal and Ireland. He has used his ‘historical perspective’ of current events as a weekly syndicated columnist for UPI, a weekly radio commentator for an NBC affiliate and a Guest Columnist for USA TODAY.

$25/person and open to University alumni and friends; includes beverages and appetizers. Sponsored by the International House Global Voices Performing Arts Series and the Alumni Club of Chicago.
