The Japanese Literary Studies conference, “Performance and Japanese Literature” will be a reflection on literary scholarship that go beyond traditional concepts to incorporate linguistic and cultural performativity, ritual, and the activities of literary criticism and publication as they function as performances.

 

The conference encourages innovative modes of scholarship as performance and welcome presentations that address issues of pedagogy. Individual paper proposals are organized into panels for productive discussions across boundaries of genre, historical period, and institution on best practices for the research and teaching of Japanese literature.

 

Open to the public. Registration required.
