International House and the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts are hosting an event featuring Ben Rhodes, the Deputy National Security Advisor for former President Barack Obama. Rhodes will share anecdotes and a behind-the-scenes look at his time in the Obama Administration as chronicled in his New York Times bestseller, The World as It Is. The discussion will be moderated by Katherine Baicker, Dean and Emmett Dedmon Professor, Harris Public Policy.

From 2009 to 2017, Rhodes served as Deputy National Security Advisor to President Obama, participating in nearly all of the President’s key decisions, and overseeing all national security communications, speechwriting, public diplomacy, and global engagement programming. A key writer for all of President Obama’s major foreign policy and national security speeches for a decade, Rhodes remains one of the longest-serving members of the administration, sought out for his wide range of first-hand experience and shrewd expertise on today’s top foreign affairs and security issues.

There will be a moderated discussion and audience Q&A session. Book signing to follow.
