The InterGenerational Model United Nations (InterGenMUN) event, co-presented with the International House Global Voices program, is an opportunity for participants of all ages and walks of life to step into the shoes of UN Ambassadors and debate a range of issues on the UN agenda. This half-day program hosted by the United Nations Association-USA Greater Chicago Chapter, is designed as a teaching and learning conference and is intended for both novices and delegates with prior Model UN experience. Delegates will be joined by notable local and national leaders in civic affairs, international relations, and social issues. The InterGenMUN experience is meant to cultivate international understanding, life skills, and the attitudes necessary for responsible and active global citizenship.

InterGenMUN is an extended and modified version of the Model United Nations programs that are typically found in high schools and colleges. However, InterGenMUN (standing for Intergenerational Model UN) is an opportunity for those who didn’t get a chance to participate in MUN previously, working professionals, local government officials and staffers, community activists, professors, and industry experts alike to engage in a simulation of the work that goes on amongst UN member states. This half-day session will seek to foster understanding of cultural differences; engage globally-focused workers to experience a different perspective; encourage networking and teammwork; and will further broaden awareness and understanding of the complexities and significant work that delegates from UN member states must endure in order to negotiate diplomatic initiatives. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that all participants appreciate, recognize, and respect the processes surrounding the United Nations.

Anyone between the ages of 18-100+ living in the Chicagoland area, who has a commitment and desire to become globally engaged on a local level is welcome to attend. More information and registration details will be available at www.unachicago.org.
