Join the Global Voices Performing Arts & Lecture Series and UChicago Spiritual Life as we celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sister Nivedita, an influential religious figure of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Prominent scholars and religious leaders, Swami Sarvadevananda, Swami Purnananda, and Swami Ishatmananda will give presentations on a variety of topics. The event will also feature performances by the newly established University of Chicago South Asian Music Ensemble and two renowned sitarists, Pundit Debaprasad Chakraborty and Atanu Mazumdar.

Swami Sarvadevananda, Head, Vedanta Society of Southern California: Teachings of Sri Ramakrishna as manifested in Nivedita’s Life

Swami Purnananda, Head, Vedanta Society of Ireland: Teachings of Swami Vivekananda as manifested in Nivedita’s Life

Swami Ishatmananda, Head, Vedanta Society of Chicago: Teachings of Sri Sarada Devi as manifested in Nivedita’s Life

 

Refreshments will be served after the program. The event is free and open to the public.
