Synopsis

The story opens introducing a cop, Jose and his childhood friend, Michaela. His mother has been telling him that he should propose to Michaela, and he sees no reason why not. However, a sultry factory worker, Carmen comes and steals Jose’s heart. She has caused a riot at work and Jose was sent to bring her to jail. She seduces him into releasing her. Both of them however start thinking that their infatuation might be more than just a crush. Jose is sent to prison for letting Carmen escape. After his release, the two meet up and Carmen convinces Jose to come with her to Vegas. He has been unable thus far to be readmitted to the force. Her friends in Vegas have come up with a scheme to steal from the slots.

All of them decide to go to Vegas, but before leaving Carmen is approached by the famous boxer, Escamillo. He is smitten with her and promises that he will win her heart. In Vegas Carmen and Jose get into a fight when Escamillo arrives and declares his love for Carmen. Michaela shows up with the news that Jose’s mother is dying. The two leave together, but Jose swears he will get Carmen back. He finds her a while later at one of Escamillo’s fights. The two fight and in a haze of emotion and anger Carmen is murdered by Jose.
