Please join the Global Voices Performing Arts Series in welcoming back early music ensemble The Newberry Consort for their first performance of 2020! This program, a co-production with acclaimed Philadelphia-based wind band Piffaro, honors the great Isabella d’Este, a politician, mother, taste-maker, musician, writer, art collector, and one of the most important patrons of the Italian Renaissance. The concert features the frottole, an Italian song form that propagated at her Mantuan court in the late 15th-century. Soprano Ellen Hargis gives voice to this sensual Italian poetry accompanied by a variety of Renaissance instruments, including guitar, lute, shawms, recorders, and strings.

Doors open at 7:00PM. A complimentary reception will take place before the performance and during the intermission. A pre-concert chat with musicians will begin at 7:30PM.

Tickets: $40 General Admission | $10 for Students with UCID

This program is presented by the International House Global Voices Performing Arts Series, The Newberry Consort, and the Weil-Parker Fund for Performing Arts at International House.
