Join International House as we partner with International Women Associates and The Nourishment Projects to present Islamic Gardens: The Sound of a Garden. We will marvel at the transcendent beauty of Islamic gardens in Mughal India, Moorish Spain and the Persian & Ottoman empires. The event will feature Soma Roy, Founder of The Nourishment Projects.

Sensuality & spirituality perfumes Islamic gardens. Ornamental waterfalls, long lines of cypress trees and palms, voluptuous flowers, magnificently tiled sacred geometrical irrigation patterns are the earthly manifestations of Islamic paradise. The most refined & elegant of them were the gardens of medieval Persia and they inspired the Mughal gardens of India. Through these gardens, creation acquires a speaking soul and proclaims the beauty & majesty of its creator. Come join us on April 18 to marvel at the transcendent beauty of Islamic gardens in Mughal India, Moorish Spain and the Persian & Ottoman empires. Each garden is a paean of praise to the eternal reality beyond them: “giving, as a frame for the Beloved, the blossoming forth of nature in spring”.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required

This event is co-sponsored by International House Global Voices Lecture Series, International Women Associates, and The Nourishment Projects.
