Join International House as we partner with International Women Associates and The Nourishment Projects to present Ozymandias. The event will feature Soma Roy, Founder of The Nourishment Projects.

Shelley’s sonnet is a vivid evocation of ruin.  The sense of isolation is captured with History sneering her cold command ‘look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair”.  All Mighty, through the ages, despair at the recognition that their power too is transitory.

Without any tendentious symbolism, May  18’s presentation is a meditation on arrogance.  Be it the Romans, the Mayans, or the Khmers, we will honor illustrious — perhaps vainglorious — empires, including their form and geometry, even though the fate of most of them was not necessarily glorious.

This event is free and open to the publicRegistration is required.

This event is co-sponsored by International House Global Voices Lecture Series, International Women Associates, and The Nourishment Projects.
