Born in the city of Hiroshima, Takashi Teramoto was a fifth grader at a local elementary school at the tender age of ten when he was exposed to the atomic bomb at a distance of approximately 0.62 miles away from the hypocenter.

As of August 1, 2016, Mr. Teramoto is 81 years of age and has volunteered to act as a guide for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum since 1998.  Mr. Teramoto has been active overseas to present his testimony as an a-bomb survivor, relating his personal experiences to students worldwide.

Mr. Teramoto will travel to Chicago this month visiting the campuses of DePaul, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Loyola University, and the University of Chicago.

Mr. Teramoto’s visit here at the University of Chicago campus will take place on Wednesday, October 26th at the International House’s Coulter Lounge (1414 E. 59th St.).
