2024 Davis Grant Recipients

Lina Gonzalez

International House Fellow Lina Gonzalez, MPP’25 is studying at the Harris School of Public Policy. She will use her grant for the project Breaking Violent Areas with EmpowerEd Students to help prevent underprivileged high school students from becoming involved in violence and instead nurturing a bilingual youth workforce. This project will be completed in Cali, Colombia where Lina was raised and attended college.

Pedro Huet, Jane Kim, and Joseph Olalusi

International House Fellows Pedro Huet, MPP’24 and Jane Kim, MPP’24, along with Joseph Olalusi, MPP’24 are studying at the Harris School of Public Policy. They will use their grant for the project 59th Street Garden: A Community Approach for Solving Neighborhood Crime to establish a community garden in the Englewood neighborhood, a southside Chicago community that has been burdened by violence and a lack of public and private investment for decades.

Burak Tan

International House Fellow Burak Tan, PhD’26 is studying in the Department of Political Science in the Social Sciences Division. He will use his grant for the project Community Networks Against Gender Discrimination in Southeast Turkey to address the situation of the LGBTQ+ community in southeastern Turkey which has been impacted by the Kurdish ethnic conflict. This project will be completed in Diyarbakir, Turkey.
