For yet another year, International House plays host to the annual Hyde Park Jazz Festival. This year Festival features the finest artists in local, national and international jazz:
Connecticut born and Berklee educated, JEFF PARKER is a guitarist, composer, and “sculptor of sonic textures.”  A member of the acclaimed ‘Isotope 217˚’ and ‘Chicago Underground,’ he has performed all over North America, Europe, and Asia and been acknowledged as “Jazz Soloist of the Year” by the Chicago Reader. Jeff met bassist CHRIS LOPES at Berklee College of Music and together they founded ‘The Last Kwartet,’ which was shortly joined by drummer CHAD TAYLOR, and the trio was created. The fruits of this musical journey can be found on Jeff Parker’s albums Like-Coping, The Relatives, and Bright Light In Winter.

The Jeff Parker Trio is joined by cellist and composer TOMEKA REID, a freelance musician who has been called by Howard Reich, “a remarkably versatile player” with “a distinctive voice.” In Chicago, she has become an integral part of Dee Ale4:00xander’s Evolution Ensemble, Nicole Mitchell’s Black Earth Ensemble/Strings, Mike Reed’s Loose Assembly, and the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musician’s (AACM) Great Black Music Ensemble. She co-leads the internationally recognized string trio, Hear in Now, and co-directed the String Orchestra program at the University of Chicago Laboratory School.
