GRAD: Book Club – The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood

January 25, 2023
5:30PM - 7:00PM
Assembly Hall Foyer

Join International House for our bi-weekly Book Club. This quarter, we will read books on the theme “food.” At this meeting, we will gather to read “The Edible Woman” by Margaret Atwood. Marian McAlpin is an “abnormally normal” young woman, according to her friends. But after her dependable boyfriend Peter proposes marriage, things take a strange turn. Suddenly empathizing with the steak in a restaurant, Marian finds she is unable to eat meat. As the days go by, her feeling of solidarity extends to other categories of food, until there is almost nothing left that she can bring herself to consume.

This event is free and open exclusively to graduate students 21+ with a valid UCID. Registration is required.
