Join International House and the African Caribbean Students’ Association in hosting a cultural show on campus in order to showcase and celebrate the art, music, and food of different cultures within the African diaspora. For the past decade, the UChicago African Caribbean Students Association has sought to represent the diversity that characterizes the African and Caribbean Diaspora in Chicago and around the world. Each year, we want to welcome members of the Chicago community to engage and look through a window into the various elements of this world through our ACSA Cultural Show. The theme for the 2018 show is Back to Basics. Take a trip back in time and enjoy a memorable night with a classic twist. The itinerary includes: a student-modeled fashion show featuring Chicago-based African designers, song/dance performances from UChicago and other university dance groups, storytelling segments from requested performers, vendor showcases, and, of course, a lot of delicious authentic cuisine from East Africa, West Africa, and the Caribbean.
Tickets: $12 in advance / $15 at the door. Doors open at 6:00PM. Tickets are limited.
This event is co-sponsored by the International House Global Voices Performing Arts and Lecture Series, African Caribbean Students Association, and AfroZons.
