Please join the International House Global Voices Lecture Series and Harris Public Policy for the Day One Keynote Address given by Valerie Jarrett, former and longest-serving senior advisor to President Barack Obama, and moderated by Michael Strautmanis.  The address aims to bring local, national, and worldly conversations to the University of Chicago.  Jarrett’s lecture will inspire listeners to contemplate their role in complex global and social issues and craft a vision for the future of policy leaders and social change. This event will focus on the crossroads of leadership, social change, and policy. 

Valerie Jarrett is a lawyer, businesswoman, and civic leader. She has held several prominent positions in Chicago, including Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development for Mayor Harold Washington, Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, and Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development. Jarrett has also served as the Senior Advisor to former Preseident Obama and Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs in the Obama administration.
